Lord shiva as Husband of goddess sati
According to Shiv Purana, Goddess आदिशक्ति (Adi Shakti) agreed to be born as Sati, the daughter of Brahma’s son Daksha Prajapati and Prasuti. She was an incarnation of आदिशक्ति (the supreme goddess).
Goddess Sati was born as the beloved and youngest daughter of Prajapati. She was a wholehearted devotee of Lord Shiva. When she reached marriageable age, she decided to marry only Lord Shiva. Daksha Prajapati has massive ego and pride, and was against the marriage of his daughter Sati and Lord Shiva. He did not like Lord Shiva’s ascetic lifestyle, his appearance. Lord Shiva who roamed cremation grounds and he had ghosts, demons, and ghouls as his followers, he thought that Lord Shiva was unfit as husband for his beloved daughter.
Goddess Sati performs intense penance to win Lord Shiva as her husband. Lord shiva appeared before her and granted her Wish to become his wife.
Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu approached Daksha to arrange the marriage. Daksha Prajapati first strongly disapproves but later acquiescently accepts their marriage proposal to balance the universe.
On the day of Chaitra Shuddha Trayodashi, Phalgun Nakshatra Lord Shiva arrived seated on Nandi, wearing a tiger skin and the crescent moon on his forehead. Under Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra the marriage rituals were performed. Daksha Prajapati performed the kanyadan of his daughter, Goddess Sati, to Lord Shiva. After the wedding, Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati resided in the Himalayan mountains.
The divine union of Goddess Sati and Lord Shiva brought stillness and joy to the whole universe.
