Fresh fruit juice or packaged fruit juice which is good for us?

Fresh fruit juice is described as a healthy option but it is less healthy than whole fruit where many packaged fruit juices contain sugar and artificial ingredients.

Fresh fruit juice is best consumed immediately but we can store 1-2 days and it must be stored in an airtight jar in the refrigerator immediately right after juicing. Some may claim no-added-sugar but sometimes they need food grade additives or preservatives to store it.

Fresh fruit juice is considered less healthy than whole fruit because by juicing we are removing the majority of a fruit’s fiber which is important for digestion. Drinking excessive juice can create a spike in blood sugar as well as in insulin.

We may find it difficult to eat three to four whole sweet limes in one serving but we can easily finish but to make a 6-ounce glass of fresh sweet lime juice, we will typically need 3 to 4 medium-sized sweet limes. This means we are consuming an excessive amount of fruits.

Eating whole fruit is generally a healthier option than drinking fruit juice.

Bite your fruit, don’t drink it.
