Lord Shiva’s Intense Grief?
Daksha Prajapati arranged a grand yagna. Everyone was invited except Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati. Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu were also invited. He invited Indra and Gods, gandharva, vasu, sages and naga. Maharishi Dadhichi was angry at Daksha Prajapati that he did not invite Lord Shiva.
Daksha Prajapati accepted his daughter’s marriage with Lord Shiva under pressure from his father Lord Brahma. He did not like Lord Shiva as his son- in – law.
Goddess Sati became aware of the yagna and decided to attend, despite not being invited. She asked Lord Shiva to join her but he refused her request and told her that he will not attend yagnya if he is not invited. Goodness Sati went to Daksha’ Yagna. She wanted to ask her father why Lord shiva and she weren’t invited to the yagna. She reached the yagna place, her mother and sister were happy to see her. She was furious about not being invited to the yagna. She asked her father about it but he insulted her husband and asked her to stay quiet or leave the place as she was not invited anyway.
Goddess Sati was distressed about everything. She started meditation thinking about Lord Shiva and started focusing on the third chakra. Goddess Sato created cosmic fire and immolated herself into ashes.
All those who were present at yagna were terrified after the incident. Suddenly, everyone heard a celestial announcement, “Daksha, You have insulted Lord Shiva and aadishakti, you will have to pay for your mistakes. Everyone else present, please leave this yagna and return to your respective places.”
Everyone present at yagna was worried about the catastrophe which was waiting for the universe.
Lord Shiva’s gana returned to Kailasa and told him about everything that had happened. They told Lord Shiva that Goddess Sati immolated herself in cosmic fire.
Following Goddess Sati’s self-immolation, Lord Shiva was consumed by deep sorrow and anger.
