Lord Shiva who is करुणावतारम् (Karunavataram) forgives Daksha
Veerabhadra destroyed Daksha’s yagna and beheaded him. Lord Brahma was told about Daksha’s death. Daksha was Brahma’s manas putra. He was feeling sad about his son’s death. He thought a lot but couldn’t find a way to bring him back to life and complete the yagna. So Lord Brahma and other gods went to Vishnu lok and asked him for assistance. Lord Vishnu said that insulting Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati was a terrible offense. Also Daksha did not consider Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati’s yagna havi. Surrender to Lord Shiva is the only way to end this catastrophe. We have to plead with him for forgiveness and mercy.
Everyone along with Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and other Gods went to mount Kailasa. They saw Lord Shiva was sad because of his loss. He was sitting under the huge banayan tree, deeply absorbed in meditation.
Everyone bowed in front of the Lord Shiva and they asked for forgiveness about everything that happened at dev yagna. All gods begged for mercy. Lord Shiva opened his eyes and saw everybody.
Lord Shiva is called as करुणावतारम् (Karunavataram) means incarnation of mercy and kindness. He said that, one who hates and envies others will face consequences. This catastrophe was a result of his bad karma. As you pray to Me, I will forgive you. I will respect your requests and make Daksha alive with Shiva’s Maya. Lord Shiva went to yagna place and He gave Daksha Goat’s head. In Hinduism the goat’s head symbolized humility and surrendering ego to the divine.Daksha stood up, feeling ashamed of his act. He begged Lord Shiva to forgive him. Lord Brahma thanked Lord Shiva for making his son alive again. They completed the yagna with his blessings. Lord Shiva told Prajapati Daksha, “ I am the one omnipresent being. I am completely in control of the one who has a pure devotion for me. There are four types of devotion. The first one is आर्त (Arta) which means they turn to me when they are in deep pain and suffering. Second one is जिज्ञासु (Jijnasu) which means one who have a desire for true knowledge and a deeper understanding of the soul. The third one अर्थार्थी (Artharthi) which means who turns to me when they have a desire for material prosperity. The fourth one is Jnani (ज्ञानी) which means one who wants to attain spiritual wisdom and liberation. The is Jnani (ज्ञानी) considered the highest type of devotee as per me. Keep your mind and soul pure. Your yagya got destroyed because of your ego and arrogance. Everyone felt blessed after hearing this knowledge from Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva blessed everyone and went back to mount kailasa.
