What is the right time to introduce books to my kid?

What is the right time to introduce books to my kid?

Introducing books at an early age is very important, many studies show that excessive screen time can delay speech and language development in kids. It hampers their focus and social as well as emotional skills.

At 3 – 6 months, we can start introducing books to babies.

Babies from 3 months to 1 year can interact with a fabric book. These cloth books are made with vibrant colours and patterns. It also improves hand-eye coordination. Fabric books are soft and are safe if they are made with non toxic material. Please check materials before giving it to children as they have a tendency to put objects in their mouths between 3 months – 1 years old to explore textures. Make sure they don’t have buttons or removable parts and look for machine or hand-washable books.

For 1 – 2 year old kids need interactive books like numbers, alphabet, sound book, lift-the-flap or touch and feel books rhyme or stories with easy rhythm. Make sure that books don’t have sharp corners or any removable parts.

Note:

This is not a sponsored post for the book. I personally think that excessive use of scree is harming kids. Invest in a book rather than a gadget.

Encourage both reading and outdoor play by offering books alongside physical activities. Outdoor activities promote health in kids and reading is best for the development of a kid’s brain. Secure their future by giving them plenty of books to read and then let them learn from the book.

There are many other good books besides the ones listed above that we generally read. Find your favourite
